COMBELEN, Combelen, a preparation consisting of the ethyl ester of dioxybenzoyl-o-benzoic acid and the ethyl ester of triacetyl-tannic acid. The presence of resorcinol, benzoic acid, and tannic acids determines the action of Combelen as an intestinal astringent and disinfectant; Combelen is used against diarrhea. The dose for children is 0.25 three times a day, and for adults 0.5 three to four times a day.
