DERMASAN, Dermasan, a super-fatty soap ointment base with 10% free salicylic acid. It is absorbed by the skin, causing redness. As a salicylate preparation, it is used for rheumatism, gouty nodules, etc. Ester-Dermasan, with 10% esters of salicylic acid, is used externally as a disinfectant; in gynecology—for gonorrhea, parametritis, etc.—in the form of vaginal suppositories, 1.5 g each. Kupfer-Dermasan represents Dermasan with 2% copper and has a cauterizing action. It is used for treating lupus and soft chancre.
