MOLLIN (Mollin, s. Sapo unguinosus), an ointment base representing a superfatted, soft potassium soap prepared from caustic potash (50 parts of a 15% solution), lard (40 parts), ethyl alcohol (4 parts), and glycerin (15 parts). According to another recipe, mollin contains saponified lard and coconut oil with the addition of free fat. The white, ointment-like mass keeps well and penetrates the skin more easily than lard.
