REINBLAU, a water-soluble aniline blue dye. Tanaka recommends it for staining brain sections after fixation with formalin or Flemming's fluid (preliminary staining with carmine or carbol fuchsin, then 30 seconds in a mixture of 30–40 cm3 of a saturated solution of picric acid and 1 cm3 of a saturated aqueous solution of Reinblau).
