ACME (from the Greek akme—point, peak), in medicine, generally denotes the period of the highest development of any pathological process. In the study of fever (see), the concept of the acme of a febrile process usually denotes the period of the highest standing of the febrile temperature (stadium fastigii of the temperature curve).
