ATTAGENUS PELLIO, a beetle of the dermestid family (Dermestidae); takes part in the destruction of corpses and carrion. It is frequently found on provisions, in various collections, clothing (fur coats), and leather. To protect clothing from the beetle, it must be aired frequently. The most radical means of destroying the beetle and its larvae is carbon disulfide. See Disinfestation.
