Bourboule (La Bourboule), a balneological resort and town in France in the Puy-de-Dôme department, on the Central Plateau, deep in the valley of the Dordogne River (altitude 852 m). New bathing building, park with casino, theater, etc. Picturesque location, forested mountains. Variable climate. Hot summer (July, August 22°C). Salt-carbonate-alkaline springs with arsenic, of two kinds: the most important and more mineralized hot ones (Choussy-Perriere 58°C, 28 mg arsenic per 1 liter, Croizat 45°C) and cold ones (Fenestre and others 20°C). The water is used for baths and drinking. Indications: many skin diseases, tuberculosis, lupus, anemia, scrofula, rheumatism, neuralgia, neurasthenia. Season: from May 25 to October 30.
