LIBAVA (Liepaja), a port city and resort in Latvia, located on a narrow sandy spit separating Libava Bay (otherwise called Little Lake) from the Baltic Sea, at an elevation of 5.8 m above sea level at 50°31'N latitude and 21°1'E longitude from Greenwich. Average annual air temperature +6.6°C. Average summer temperature +15.5°C. Relative humidity 70-80%. Precipitation 500-600 mm per year. The main therapeutic means are sea bathing. The water temperature in the open sea in June is +13.1°C, in July +15.5°C, and in August +16.7°C. Libava has a well-equipped hydrotherapy facility that provides warm sea, carbonic, alkaline, ferruginous, sulfur, hydroelectric, and mud baths. Season - year-round, sea bathing from June 1 to September 1. Indications for Libava include: diseases of the motor organs, neuritis, neuralgia, gout, anemia, neurasthenia, and others. In immediate proximity to Libava, right by the sea, among dense forests, the Bernaty colony has recently arisen, which is the embryo of a future resort.
