HYDROMANIA (from the Greek hydor — water and mania — madness), one of the types of obsessive states, characterized by a morbid desire to commit suicide through drowning; such patients cannot calmly remain near water or cross a bridge: they develop a sensation that someone is pulling them into the water. In severe cases, they carry out their desire.
