Summary
The term 'idiotyp' was proposed by Siemens as a replacement for 'Johansen's genotype.' Alongside this, he introduces the concept of 'paratyp,' referring to the collection of non-hereditary traits. Under this terminology, 'phenotype' represents the collection of realized (idiotypic and paratypic) traits.
Encyclopedia entry (1928–1936)
IDIOTYP, a term proposed by Siemens (Siemens) as a replacement for the term Johansen's genotype (see). Along with this, he introduces the concept of 'paratyp,' under which he means the collection of non-hereditary traits. Under phenotype, however, he, in agreement with all other authors, means the collection of realized (idiotypic and paratypic) traits. New, therefore, in Siemens' terminology is the concept of paratyp, which allows for a more differentiated use of the term 'phenotype.' The term 'idiotyp,' however, offers no advantages over the generally accepted terminology (genotype).
