IGNATOV, Nikolai Konstantinovich (b. 1870), professor of experimental hygiene at the 2nd Moscow State University. Graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University in 1893. From 1896 to 1925, he conducted constant scientific research and teaching work at the Hygiene Institute of the 1st Moscow State University, in 1918 he received the title of professor of the same university. In 1922, he was elected professor to the department of experimental hygiene at the Moscow State Higher Medical School, and in 1924, professor of experimental hygiene at the 2nd Moscow State University. I. has more than 40 printed scientific works on various branches of hygiene; among them: "On the question of coloring vegetable preserves with copper salts" (experimental research, dissertation, Moscow, 1898); "Practical guide to the methodology of sanitary-hygienic research" (Moscow, 1927); "Nutrition of children of all ages" (Moscow, 1928). The works of Ignatov on American and English filters should also be noted, his many years of participation in special commissions of the Moscow City Public Administration, which worked on finding the most acceptable point on the Moscow River from a hygienic point of view for supplying the Moscow water pipeline with high-quality drinking water, on testing the suitability of American mechanical filters for cleaning Moskvoretskaya water, and on studying the operation of English filters in Rublyovo and developing a proper system for their operation.
