BIETT, Laurent Théodore (1781–1840), a well-known representative of the Paris dermatological school and one of the originators of the combined treatment of syphilis. Biett developed a system for treating chronic skin diseases with arsenic; introduced double mercuric iodide treatment into medical practice for syphilis; established the significance of the marginal "border" desquamation for the diagnosis of papular syphilide ("Biett's collar"), and so on.
