NONNE Max (Max Nonne, born in 1861), outstanding German neurologist. Received his neurological education from Erb. Additionally, he served as an assistant to surgeon Esmarch and neurologist Eisenlohr. Known for numerous works on organic diseases of the nervous system; works by N. on traumatic neurosis, hereditary ataxias, tumors of the central nervous system, and on cerebrospinal fluid (Nonne-Apelt reaction; Nonne's syndrome in compressions of the spinal cord) deserve special attention. N.'s works concerning syphilis of the nervous system are of great importance. In addition to many articles on this topic, N. wrote a major monograph "Syphilis und Nervensystem" (Berlin, 1924), which is the fundamental work in the field of neurosyphilis. On this same topic, N. gave reports in almost all countries of Europe and North and South America, including in Moscow in 1925. For many years he has been honorary chairman of the Society of German Neurologists and editor of the society's journal "Deutsche Zeitschrift fur Nervenheilkunde".
