VACCINE STYLUS, a smallpox vaccination instrument resembling a steel writing pen, but without a split; when stored in a saturated solution of borax in a well-stoppered bottle, it does not rust. It is convenient for mass vaccinations because, owing to the low cost of the instrument, a separate vaccine stylus can be prepared for each person being vaccinated.
