VULPI-AN-BERNHARDT TYPE (Vulpian, Bernhardt) of muscle atrophy distribution in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and spinal progressive atrophy: the onset of atrophy begins in the muscles of the shoulder girdle and only later spreads to the muscles of the distal parts of the upper extremities. It is encountered rarely.
