Encyclopedia entry (1928–1936)

AGAMOFILARIAE (from the Greek a- negative particle, gamos-marriage, and filaria-filaria), a collective name for the larvae of those filariae whose sexually mature forms are still unknown. Agamofilaria georgiana was found in 1907 in North America under the skin of a Black woman: body length 32-53 mm, with a width of 0.64 mm.
