Summary

Ala cinerea is a greyish region located on the floor of the fourth ventricle of the brain. It corresponds to the nucleus of the vagus nerve and is situated adjacent to the nucleus of the hypoglossal nerve.

ALA CINEREA (fovea vagi, fovea inferior), a region of greyish coloration located along the floor of the fourth ventricle (see Ventricles of the brain) in its lower sections; it has the appearance of a triangle, the base of which faces the restiform bodies; this region corresponds to the nucleus of the vagus nerve; medial to it lies the nucleus of the twelfth nerve.
