Anfimov, Yakov Afanasyevich, psychiatrist and neurologist, born in 1852, studied at the natural sciences faculty of St. Petersburg University and at the Medico-Surgical (later Military-Medical) Academy, at which he was retained upon completion of his course. From 1892 he successively held the chair of psychiatry and nervous diseases at Tomsk and Kharkov universities. From 1920 he was an honored professor at Tiflis University. A. worked on a number of questions in the pathological physiology of the nervous system (on the influence of skin lacquering on it, on the excitability of the neuromuscular apparatus, etc.), as well as questions of general psychopathology (on delusions, on the structure of personality) and the clinic of mental diseases.
