APIOL, Apiol, a crystalline camphor obtained from parsley essential oil (Ol. petroselini). In former times it was used for malaria and night sweats in tuberculosis; due to its action on smooth muscle fibers, it is used for dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, etc. Dosage: internally 2-3 times a day at 0.2-0.3; subcutaneously at 0.2 in Provence oil.
