Arnol'dov, Vladimir Andreevich (born in 1861), professor at Saratov University in the department of experimental hygiene since 1912; prior to this, since 1908, he taught a course in hygiene at Kazan University, in place of Professor Kapustin. Alongside his academic activities, he also worked extensively as a practical sanitary physician. After graduating from Kazan University in 1887, he served in the zemstvo and as a city physician in Kazan (until 1893). From 1903 to 1905, A. headed the medical-sanitary bureau of the city of Baku; from 1905 to 1912, he was the sanitary physician of the Kazan district of communications. A. has about 40 experimental works, printed in many journals, on issues of sanitary examination of the water basin of the Volga, labor and living conditions of river workers, sanitary condition of water transport, and on issues of professional hygiene and others. From his separate works, the following should be noted: "Water of the Volga River and its tributaries," "Determination of ergot in baked bread," "On the inapplicability of hygiene standards for drinking water in some localities of Russia" and others.
