After graduating from Moscow University in 1885, he worked in the hygienic laboratory of Professor F. F. Erisman and as a sanitary physician in the city of Moscow. In 1891, he moved to the service of the Moscow provincial zemstvo as a sanitary physician, first in Mozhaisk, and then in Serpukhovsky and Moscow districts. While working in the Serpukhovsky district, S. specialized in the field of industrial sanitation, particularly in wastewater treatment. S. collected world literature on issues of purification, received a foreign business trip, and soon became an exclusive specialist hygienist in these matters. When the question arose before Moscow about the establishment of a biological station for wastewater treatment, Sosnin was invited to the "Biological Commission" organized for this purpose as a representative of public sanitary supervision (1905-1917). Subsequently, he also participated as a sanitary physician-expert in the Temporary Commission for studying measures to protect the water bodies of the Moscow industrial area from contamination by wastewater and factory and plant waste (1911-16). After the revolution, S. served as the permanent chairman of the consultative commission of the sanitary department of the Moscow Health Department, being an exceptionally competent person in matters of industrial sanitation and purification. S. has a number of scientific works published in medical journals; in 1925, together with S. Bogoslovsky, Sosnin compiled "Introduction to Professional Hygiene" (M., 1925).
