DAUGE, Pavel Georgievich (born in 1869), founder and leader of Soviet dentistry, reformer of dental education in the RSFSR (mandatory completion of medical faculty for dentists), member of the board of the People's Commissariat of Health of the RSFSR of the first composition. He received his specialized education in Berlin, Petersburg, and Moscow (1897). In 1892, D. published the Erfurt program for the first time, working in the illegal press and being a lecturer and agitator. In 1893,

D. connected with the German Social Democratic Party; in 1894 he participated in St. Petersburg student circles; in 1896 he worked in the Moscow organization of the RSDRP. In 1904, he met Lenin, traveling to Switzerland on party assignments. In 1905, D. participated in the literary-lectorial group of the Moscow committee of the RSDRP and wrote (1906) in the newspapers 'Struggle' and 'Light'. He participated in the II Congress of the Latvian section of the RSDRP (1905) and in the III Unifying Congress (1906). He participated in the dental union and its congresses. D. - member of the bureau of the Society of Old Bolsheviks, member of the Communist Academy, honorary member of a number of scientific dental societies. He began his practical and scientific-medical activity upon completion of his specialized education. His most important works of a scientific-practical nature: 'Absorption of tooth roots in scleroderma', 'On the combined action of suggestion and local anesthesia'. Subordinating the achievements of science to the interests of the masses, he puts this forward in a number of printed works (up to 20). The most important of them: 'Caries as a social disease' (Proceedings of the I All-Russian Odontological Congress, M., 1924); 'On dental education' (Proceedings of the II All-Union Odontological Congress, M., 1927); 'Foundations of socialist dentistry' (in print). These works are guiding for the scientific and practical organization of stomatological-odontological thought and practice.
