Dühring, Louis (Louis Adolphus Dühring, 1845-1913), outstanding American dermatologist. From 1876, professor and director of the dermatological clinic at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Of Dühring's works, special mention should be made of dermatitis herpetiformis, described by him in 1884 and also known as Dühring's disease. Dühring published a detailed atlas of skin diseases («Atlas of skin diseases», parts 1-7, Philadelphia, 1876-80) and a classic practical treatise on skin diseases («Practical treatise on diseases of the skin», Philadelphia, 1886), translated into French.
