KRIVSKY Leonid Aleksandrovich (born 1870), one of the prominent contemporary Russian gynecologists, professor of obstetrics and women's diseases at the State Institute of Medical Knowledge (GIMZA). Graduated from the Military Medical Academy in 1894, in 1913 received the title of privat-docent. The scientific and practical activities of K. took place at the former St. Petersburg obstetric institution, in city maternity shelters and in the gynecological department of the Obukhovskaya Hospital (in which K. organized the obstetric-gynecological clinic of the State Institute of Medical Knowledge). K. has about 60 printed works; among them should be noted the dissertation "On the question of posterior-parietal presentation of the head" (SPB, 1905), a series of articles on repeat cesarean section (1904, 1908), on pubiotomy "The current state of pubiotomy" (Vrach. gaz., 1912, № 35-36), on cancer of the uterus "Radical abdominal operation for cancer of the uterus based on materials from the gynecological department of the Obukhovskaya Hospital" (J. obstet. and women's diseases, 1914, № 6-8), as well as "Treatment of uterine myomas" (J. obstet. and women's diseases, volume XXXIX, book 5, 1928) - a work based on 128 questionnaires covering 12,237 cases. The collective "Guide to Women's Diseases" (L., 1927), published under the editorship of K., is very popular. Krivsky is the editor of many scientific journals, takes an active part in the socio-scientific life, in the organization of scientific congresses and is a member of the presidium of the oldest Leningrad Obstetric-Gynecological Society and a member of the board of the All-Union Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians.
