STANNIUS CORPUSCLES (Stannius), adrenal glands of teleost fish, first described by the German anatomist Stannius (1839). They are located near the cardinal veins and sympathetic trunks and represent clusters of chromaffin tissue corresponding to the medullary substance of the adrenal glands of higher vertebrates.
