Appersonisation is the psychological tendency of the ego to incorporate external objects and phenomena into itself. In psychopathology, it refers to delusional states where patients believe that external events or the experiences of others are happening directly to them.

APPERSONISATION (from the Latin ad - to, and persona - personality), the tendency of the mental personality to make certain objects and phenomena of the external world part of itself, such as clothing, tools, decorations, etc. In psychopathology, appersonisation is discussed when a patient asserts, for example, that certain changes occurring in the external world are actually taking place within them, or that the experiences of other people are their own experiences, and so on.
