Summary

Bronchoenterocatarrr is a symptom complex of respiratory tract disease and severe intestinal involvement, characterized by enterocolitis (mucus and blood in the stool), occurring in rachitic and weak children and often causing their death. It is frequently accompanied by vomiting, loss of appetite, dyspeptic stool, and flatulence in small children with influenza-like illnesses. In many cases, paratyphoid and dysentery bacilli were found in the feces, making it particularly dangerous in closed institutions where it could become an epidemic.

Encyclopedia entry (1928–1936)

Bronchoenterocatarrr, the name of a symptom complex of respiratory tract disease and severe intestinal involvement, characterized by enterocolitis (mucus and blood in the stool), occurring in rachitic and weak children and often causing their death. Vomiting, loss of appetite, dyspeptic stool, and flatulence generally very often accompany influenza-like illnesses in small children. In many cases, paratyphoid and dysentery bacilli were found in the feces of children, which is especially dangerous for closed institutions, where bronchoenterocatarrr can then take on the character of an epidemic. In treatment, the main attention must be directed to supporting the activity of the heart and raising the resistance of the organism (breast milk).
