BRONCHOGENIC (from the Greek bronchos meaning bronchus and genos meaning origin), originating from a bronchus. The adjective bronchogenic is added to the designation of a particular process or disease in cases where the origin of this process or disease is connected with a bronchus or the bronchi. Examples: bronchogenic infection of the lung (e.g., bronchogenic tuberculosis), i.e., the penetration of infection into the lungs via the bronchi; bronchogenic cancer of the lung, i.e., cancer originating from a bronchus.
