GOULD-KAUP INDEX (Gould, Kaup), or Quetelet's II index, or index of body build (Körperbauindex, index of build), represents the ratio of body weight to the square of height (\(\frac{P}{H^2}\)). In recent literature, the Gould-Kaup index is recommended by Kaup and Davenport for evaluating the physical development of male adolescents and adult men (see Indices of physical development).
