Ignatyev, Varvara Efimovich (1867-1927), a prominent figure in the field of physical education and school hygiene. After graduating from the medical faculty, he worked at the Hygiene Institute of Moscow University under the direction of Erisman and defended his dissertation on the topic of scattered artificial lighting. I. served for a number of years as a privat-docent at Moscow University, a teacher at various pedagogical courses, and a school sanitation physician in a number of Moscow educational institutions. In 1911, in protest against the policy of Kasso, he left the university. After the October Revolution, he actively participated in the creation of the State Institute of Physical Culture of the People's Commissariat of Health in Moscow, of which he was director for five years. -Main works of Ignatyev in recent years: "Protection of the health of students of factory and factory schools" (M.-L., 1925); "Fundamentals of social hygiene" (2nd edition, M., 1927); "Biology of the working person" (M.-L., 1927); "Study of the physical development of a person of preschool, school and draft age" (2nd edition, M., 1927); "Biological foundations of physiotherapy and physical culture" (Physiotherapy, 1928, No. 1).
