HOTTENTOT APRON, a term used to designate cases of excessive development of the labia minora, which reach an extraordinary size and hang down like an apron into the perineal region. It is observed as a racial phenomenon in Hottentot and Bushman women, and sometimes in European women. The Hottentot apron must be distinguished from the hypertrophy of the labia minora observed in prolonged masturbation (see). See also Genitalia and Vulva.
