Huygens Eyepiece
Historical document, translated for reference. It reflects medical knowledge of the 1920s–30s and is not medical advice.
Summary
The Huygens eyepiece consists of two plano-convex lenses that provide an achromatic image. It is used as an eyepiece for both microscopes and telescopes.
Encyclopedia entry (1928–1936)
Huygens eyepiece (Huygens), consists (see the figure) of two plano-convex lenses, of which the larger lens dc gives an image rs, which is placed before the other, smaller lens ba, through which the image rs is viewed. Without the lens dc, the image RS would have to be obtained from the objective, which, as can be seen from the figure, is larger than the image obtained with the lens dc.

The image obtained with the H. eyepiece is achromatic, with the achromatism depending on the fact that images of objects of certain sizes have the same magnitude for different rays of the visible spectrum.
The Huygens eyepiece is used as an eyepiece for the microscope and as an eyepiece for the telescope.
