HYPOKINESIA, a symptom described by Sarbo, which consists of the subject falling backward when placed on their feet. It is characteristic of damage to the red nucleus and its pathways, when so-called "rubral ataxia" develops. It is encountered more often in chronic cases of epidemic encephalitis.
