KRONIG Bernhard (Bernhard Kronig, 1863-1917) - one of the prominent German gynecologists. In the early years of his scientific work, he devoted much creative effort to the study of bacterial infections of the female reproductive system. At the same time, he distinguished himself as an excellent surgeon. Having taken the chair at Freiburg, he worked particularly on anesthesia in childbirth and on the treatment of women's diseases with radiant energy. In these two fields, he held a leading position internationally during his lifetime. Together with Dederlein, he wrote an excellent textbook on operative gynecology, which is still widely recognized (A. Doderleinu. B. Kronig, Operative Gynakologie, Lpz., 1st ed., 1905, 5th, posthumous, 1924).
