Kryukov Alexander Nikolaevich. Born in 1878 in Moscow, graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University in 1901. In 1914, he became a privat-docent at Moscow University for the course on blood diseases. He worked in the city hospitals of Moscow. Since 1919, he has been director of the faculty therapeutic clinic at the Turkestan, now Middle Asian University (Tashkent), where he continues to work to this day. He organized the faculty clinic, the hospital clinic, and currently the clinic of internal and Middle Asian diseases, which also serves for the advanced training of physicians. Kryukov also worked in clinics of Western Europe and North America. Among his scientific works, a series of original research and monographs on hematology should be noted: 'On the origin of leukocytes and leukocytosis' (dissertation, 1909); 'Morphology of blood' (issues 1-3, Moscow, 1920); 'A new symptom in the symptom complex of liver distomatosis' (Medical Thought of Uzbekistan, 1927, No. 3); 'Les plasmocytomes histiogenes' (Folia haemat., Band XII, 1911); 'Untersuchungen iiber die Struktur der Blutzellen' (Vienna, 1911); 'Uber die echten u. maskierten Storungen der Magensekretion, uber Pylorospasmus u. Pylorus-Aufsperrung' (Zeitschrift f. d. ges. exper. Mediz., B. XLIV, 1925); 'Anaemie bei Sprue' (Folia haemat., B. XXXV, 1928). Kryukov was the first to establish the presence of 'sprue' and 'Maltese fever' in Central Asia.
