Encyclopedia article (1928–1936)
Kuchaidze Grigory Leon'tyevich (born in 1885), physician-organizer; member of the VKP(b) since 1902. In 1916 he graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University. From 1910 to 1916, while a student, he worked in the sanitary organization of Moscow. In 1916, by mobilization, he was an ordinature of a reserve hospital in the city of Orel. K. took an active part in the underground organizational party work in Georgia and Russia, an active participant in the October Revolution. After the October Revolution, K. was a member of the Orel Revolutionary Committee, then the Gubispolkom, head of the Gubzdravotdel and head of the provincial committee for the evacuation of refugees. In 1920, after the Sovietization of the North Caucasus, in the most difficult period when the resort business was being created in the USSR, K. took an active part in resort construction and was the first director of the Caucasian Mineral Waters. In the same year, K., being the authorized representative of the Narkomzdrav of the RSFSR at the Revolutionary Military Council of the labor army of the southeast of Russia, was delegated by the Narkomzdrav of the RSFSR to Azerbaijan after its Sovietization to organize the Narkomzdrav.

From 1921, from the moment of Sovietization of Georgia, K. was the permanent People's Commissar for Health of the Georgian SSR. At the same time, from 1924, he was the authorized representative of the people's commissariats of health of the republics included in the ZSFSR for healthcare on the Transcaucasian Railway, a member of the presidium of the Georgian Central Executive Committee, a member of the Transcaucasian Central Executive Committee of all convocations, a member of the Control Commission of Georgia. On the scale of the entire Transcaucasia, K. implemented the foundations of Soviet medicine; the successes achieved in the construction of healthcare in Georgia were largely due to the activities of Kuchaidze.
