MOTTE (la Motte) (Guillaume-Mauquest de la Motte, 1655-1737), author of the famous, much reprinted in the 18th century work on obstetrics; "Traite des accouchemens naturels, non naturels et contre nature" (Paris, 1721). In this "Treatise" are collected several hundred "observations" made by Motte during his thirty years of work in the provinces. The book is written with extraordinary conscientiousness and reveals in the author a thoughtful obstetrician.
