GRAUERMAN, Grigoriy Lvovich (1861-1921), Moscow obstetrician and major organizer of obstetric care in Moscow. He graduated from the natural sciences faculty of St. Petersburg University and the medical faculty of Moscow University, after which he became an extern at the maternity shelter of the Old Yekaterininskaya Hospital and a teacher at the paramedic school attached to it. In 1898, he became head of this shelter, significantly expanding it. At the same time, he actively worked on the general organization of obstetric care in Moscow, delivering reports at the Moscow Obstetric-Gynecological Society and in a number of commissions under the Moscow City Administration. In 1907, under his leadership, the Lepikhinsky Maternity Home was opened, at the head of which G. remained until his death. In 1910, he opened the only and first hospital in Russia for postpartum diseases named after Timister. In his activities, G. consistently and persistently promoted the ideas of broad protection of motherhood and infancy, which he could only implement in practice in their new formulation under the Soviet power, to which he came as one of the first physicians.
