Pisemsky Grigory Fedorovich (born in 1802), prominent Russian gynecologist. Graduated from Kiev University in 1888 and for 5 years worked in the clinic of Reina. From 1896 to 1914, he held the position of ordinator in city hospitals in Kiev. In 1904, he defended his dissertation on the innervation of the uterus, and in 1905 was elected privat-docent. In 1914-15 he was a professor at Moscow University, and in 1915-1917 - director of the St. Petersburg maternity institution. From 1920 - professor of obstetrics and diseases of women at Kiev University (until 1930) and director of the obstetric clinic of the Clinical Institute (until the present time). From 1930 - scientific director of the Institute for the Protection of Motherhood and Infancy in Kiev. P. wrote about 60 scientific works in Russian and foreign languages. His anatomical research on the innervation of the uterus (report at the international congress in Rome) and the monograph on dermoids of the abdominal walls (1915) deserve the greatest attention. The larger part of P.'s works, based on rich experience and personal material, is devoted to operative gynecology. Among the works, it is necessary to mention reports on 1100 laparotomies (V International Congress), on cancer, incision of the abdominal walls (III Congress of Russian Gynecologists and Obstetricians), on surgical treatment of inflammatory diseases (V Congress), etc., and articles devoted to postoperative complications and their prevention (on complications during gynecological operations, on Erb-type narcotic paralysis, etc.). Among the works on obstetrics - on the split pelvis and on the organization of maternity care in Ukraine. P. takes an active part in public life, is a member of the permanent board of the All-Union Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, organized the I All-Ukrainian Congress (1927), etc. P. is chairman of the obstetric-gynecological section of the United Kiev Society, an honorary member of the Moscow Society, a member of the Scientific Council of the People's Commissariat of Health of Ukraine. P. is editor and member of the editorial board of scientific journals ('Ukrainsky Medychny Zhurnal', 'Questions of Oncology', etc.).
