Encyclopedia entry (1928–1936)

MYELOGENOUS, originating from the bone marrow or related to a particular condition of the latter. Thus, one speaks of myelogenous leukemia, myelogenous sarcomas, myelogenous fat embolisms, myelogenous blood cells, etc. Etymologically, the term myelogenous is also applicable to the spinal cord, for instance, one could speak of myelogenous paralyses, but practically such application of the term does not occur.
