Summary
Noguchi Medium is an ascitic agar culture medium used to grow the spirochete *Spirochaeta pallida* from human material, as well as *Sp. Obermeieri* and *Sp. icterogenes*. It is prepared by mixing two parts of weakly alkaline 2% agar with one part of ascitic or hydroceic fluid, and is incubated under a layer of liquid paraffin.

NOGUŠI SREDA, ascitic agar used for growing *Spirochaeta pallida* from human material, as well as *Sp. Obermeieri* and *Sp. icterogenes*. Two parts of weakly alkaline 2% agar are mixed with 1 part of ascitic or hydroceic fluid. The mixture is poured into test tubes in 15 cm3 portions; a piece of fresh rabbit kidney or testis is then placed in each. A layer of liquid paraffin 3 cm high is poured over the surface of the medium. - For growing the pale spirochete from rabbit material, 1 part of rabbit serum is mixed with 3 parts of distilled water, and a piece of tissue from rabbit organs (kidney or testis) is introduced into the mixture.
