Rusakov Ivan Vasilyevich (1877 - 1921), physician, old Bolshevik, major organizer. Graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University in 1901. Participated in the revolutionary movement from 1899. In 1905 he joined the Bolshevik Party and participated in the Moscow armed uprising. After imprisonment in February 1906, he was exiled to the city of Yalutorovsk for 3 years. In exile, he organized groups of exiles, serving as the 'leader' of the Bolsheviks, and organized and conducted party educational work with the group. As a revolutionary and physician, he worked among the poorest population of Yalutorovsk and its district, skillfully combining revolutionary influence with the provision of medical care, and gained exceptional love and authority. In 1909, upon returning from exile to Moscow, he continued underground work. As a physician, he joined the Pirogov Society, actively participated in the editorial board of the journal 'Public Physician' first as secretary, and then as one of the editors of the journal. He worked in a children's hospital, also demonstrating himself here as an erudite specialist. From the beginning of the February Revolution of 1917, R. was a member of the bureau of the first legal district committee of Bolsheviks of the Sokolniki district. In the summer of 1917, he was elected chairman of the Sokolniki district administration and a member of the Executive Committee of the Sokolniki district council of workers' deputies. In October he was a member of the revolutionary committee in the district. After the October days, he was elected chairman of the District Council and for the first two years, Soviet construction in the district proceeded under his leadership. In 1919, he was mobilized as a plenipotentiary inspector of sanitary affairs of the southern and southwestern fronts. In 1920, he was appointed deputy head of MONO and elected a member of the presidium of the Moscow Soviet. In March 1921, while suppressing the Kronstadt Rebellion, he was killed by rebels.
