TRICEPHALUS, triencephalus, three-headed, a developmental deformity in which the presence of 3 heads or parts thereof is observed in a single fetus. It belongs to the category of triple monstrosities and, moreover, monozygotic ones. The fetuses are non-viable. In humans, it occurs very rarely.
