Abortive (from Latin aboriro - I depart), interrupted, an adjective used in biology and medicine to denote a break, stoppage in some process. Examples: A. mitosis - indirect cell division that has stopped in one phase or another, which is often observed in multiplying cells of tumors; A. regeneration of nerve fibers, when the begun regeneration of the fibers is interrupted; A. course of diseases, when the latter stop at the beginning of their period of development, for example, A. typhoid fever; A. treatment - application of therapeutic measures aimed at interrupting, stopping the development of the disease.
