BADENWEILER, a climatic and balneological resort in Germany (Baden, in the southwestern Black Forest), 425 m above sea level and 226 m above the Rhine; permanent residents about 800, visitors up to 6,000. Moderate forest-mountain climate. Average annual temperature +8.7°, January -0.5°, July +17.9°; precipitation 870 mm per year. Acratotherms (lithium) 26-28°, discharge 1,600,000 liters per day; bathhouse, swimming pools, mud therapy, terrain cure (66 km). Season April-October. Indications: nervous and pulmonary diseases, anemia, obesity, rheumatism.
