BASEDOWIFICATION, the designation for microscopic changes in the structure of the thyroid gland that make it (or the ordinary goiters present in it, such as of the colloid type) resemble the thyroid gland or goiter in Basedow's disease (see). Frequently, basedowification is observed simultaneously with the appearance of objective signs of Basedowism.
