LEPORSKY Nikolai Ivanovich (born in 1877), prominent therapist. Graduated from the University of Yuryev in 1903. From 1906 to 1917 - assistant at the hospital therapeutic clinic of the University of Yuryev. From 1909 to 1911 he worked in the physiological laboratories of the Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Experimental Medicine under the guidance of I. P. Pavlov. In 1911 he defended his dissertation "Materials on the physiology of conditioned inhibition" (SP Burg, 1911) and was elected privat-docent at the University of Yuryev. From 1912 to 1917 he taught a course on private pathology and therapy of internal diseases in Yuryev; at the Higher Medical Courses (1914-17) he taught a course on faculty, and then hospital clinics. In 1917-23 - professor of the hospital therapeutic clinic of Tomsk University. From 1923 - professor of the same department at Voronezh University. He is a member of the council of the All-Union Society of Therapists, a member of the scientific council at the regional planning committee of the Central Black Earth Region, a member of the academic council at the regional health department of the Central Black Earth Region, co-editor of the Great Medical Encyclopedia. In his clinical scientific works, L. applies the latest physiological methods. Numerous works by L. are devoted mainly to the physiology and pathology of the heart and questions of digestion; of these, besides the dissertation mentioned, the most important are: "On the question of disorders of cardiac activity due to mechanical irritation of the surface of the heart" (Russian Doctor, 1913, No. 41-42); "The phenomenon of Fredericq in humans with attacks of Adams-Stokes disease" (ibid., 1917, No. 8-9); "On the question of the inhibitory effect of fat on the work of gastric glands" (Therapeutic Archive, Vol. IV, 1926); "Uber ein neues Probefruehstuck" (Zeitschr. f. klin. Med., Vol. CV, 1927).
