Ludwig Fraenkel (Ludwig Fraenkel, born in 1870), an outstanding contemporary German gynecologist. Received his medical education at several German universities, graduating in Berlin in 1892. Since 1909, professor in Breslau. F.'s works concern the most diverse departments of obstetrics and gynecology, but of particular importance are the works on the physiology of the female sexual sphere, in particular, at that time, works on the corpus luteum. Major comprehensive works by F. were published in major collective guides on obstetrics and gynecology edited by Lipmann (Lpz., 1914) and Halban and Seitz (W.-Wien, 1924-29), as well as in the guide on internal secretion edited by Hirsch (W.-Wien, 1928).
