Maslov Mikhail Stepanovich (born in 1885), pediatrician, professor at the Military Medical Academy. Graduated from the Military Medical Academy in 1910, worked in the clinic of A. N. Shkarin and in the biochemical laboratory of Ziber-Shumova. Published dissertation: "On the biological significance of phosphorus for the growing organism" (St. Petersburg, 1913). In 1913-14 he was on a foreign business trip. In 1919 he received the title of private associate professor at the Military Medical Academy, and in 1921 he headed the department of childhood diseases there. In addition, he is a professor of pathology of childhood at the Institute for the Protection of Motherhood and Infancy in Leningrad. M. authored over 50 scientific works, most of which are devoted to the study of biochemical and constitutional features of sick and healthy children, the study and rational substantiation of dietetics of early childhood, and the study of endocrine disorders in children. M. significantly expanded and deepened the teaching of pediatrics at the Military Medical Academy, paying great attention to issues of a public nature and prevention; organized at the clinic a center for the protection of motherhood and infancy. Active participant and organizer of all pediatric congresses. Repeatedly elected chairman of the society of pediatricians in Leningrad. Editor and co-editor of the "Medical Gazette", "Pediatrics" and other periodicals. Co-editor of the pediatrics department of the Great Medical Encyclopedia. The most important works of M., published separately, besides the mentioned dissertation: "The doctrine of constitutions and anomalies of constitution in childhood" (3rd ed., L., 1926); "Fundamentals of the doctrine of the child and the peculiarities of his diseases" (3rd ed., vols. I-II, M.-L., 1930-31).
