Odintsov Viktor Petrovich (born in 1876), ophthalmologist. Due to his political beliefs, he was dismissed from the university by the tsarist government and forced to go abroad, where he graduated from the medical faculty in Munich in 1904. From 1918 to the present time, professor of the eye clinic at the 1st MMI (formerly 1st Moscow State University). Founder and responsible editor of the "Russian Ophthalmological Journal" (Moscow, 1922-1931) and co-editor of the "Soviet Journal of Ophthalmology" (Moscow, since 1932). Since 1921, O. has been chairman of the Society of Eye Physicians in Moscow. O. has more than 20 published works, mainly on the pathological anatomy of the eye, in which field he is a leading specialist.

Principal works of O.: "On the pathological anatomy of sympathetic inflammation" (Vestn. Oftal., vol. XXIX, No. 2, 1912); "On the question of the latest theories of sympathetic inflammation of the eye" (dissertation, Moscow, 1917) and a series of works on siderosis of the eye (1912), on syphilitic neuritis of the optic nerve (1913), on changes in the eye in experimental syphilis of rabbits (1914), on the pathological anatomy of tumors of the optic nerve (1928). O. is the author of chapters on the conditions of blood and lymph circulation in the eye and on intraocular pressure in the collective guide to eye diseases edited by Bellarminov and Mertz (part 2, L., 1930) and on eye diseases in gonorrhea and syphilis in the "Fundamentals of Venereology and Dermatology" edited by Bronner, Efron and Meshchersky (M.-L., printed). In addition, O. is responsible for the revision and editing of the last edition of the famous "Course of Eye Diseases" by A. A. Kryukov (13th ed., M.-L., 1931).
